Wes - Have been unable to find such a place in the Omni Gazetteer of the
United States (v. 3, Southeast: Virginia).  Could it perhaps be a misreading
for Boonesville?  That place is listed in that gazetteer and in Gannett's
1904 Gazetteer of Virginia as a post village in Albemarle County.

Was unable to find Rockwood Howe in the 1880 census CD set.  Also unable to
find him in 1900 census index (Family Tree Maker CD#323).

Did find him in the Miracode for Virginia, 1910 (AncestryPlus or
Ancestry.com online):
Rockwood M. Howe, age 51, w, b. Va., living Henrico County, enum. dist. 32,
visitation 362, with daughter Luc B [sic], 24, b. Va.

Checking under his parents' names in the 1880 census might identify where
his family was living then (whether or not he is living with them).  His
given name is probably garbled in some indexes.

I can't find any place called "Bearsville, Va." in any reference I have.  I
have an 1894 marriage record for Charlottesville, Va., giving what looks
like this as the husband's [Rockwood M. Howe] residence.  Am I misreading
this or does anyone know the location? W.
