My former colleagues at Red Hill, the Patrick Henry National Memorial in
Charlotte Co., referred to me a person from nearby Amherst Co. who has what
sounds like an authentic December 1774 vellum land grant signed by Governor
Dunmore that he is interested in selling. Apparently Southeby's regarded
it as not likely to sell high enough to warrant their interest, though they
seem to concur with my guess that its probably genuine. . . . Offlist I
would be happy to put anyone interested in touch with the owner.
