Mr. Thompson -

Newspapers.com does have some articles about Dr. Susan M. Kingsbury which appear to include portrait photographs, but are accessible only if you have a "Publisher's Extra Subscription" (which we don't have). For example:

Philadelphia Inquirer, Oct. 18, 1940, p. 16. "Dr. Susan M. Kingsbury, Professor Emeritus of Social Economy at Bryn Mawr College, President from 1936 until she ..." (the thumbnail looks like a portrait heads the article).

She seems to have been on a round of speaking engagements during the 1940s. You might want to try the Philadelphia public library for a copy of the article and picture.

The "Personal Family Trees" on Ancestry.com are probably your best source for photos of her. I count nine individual trees posted by relatives, most of which include a variety of photos of her. (I also found a photo of her attached to her 1921 passport application, also on Ancestry.) If you don't have your own subscription, you probably have access to that web site through your local public library. Many libraries have a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition, which you can use in-house.

If you want someone to send you a photo you'll need to provide an email address. This listserv only accepts text messages.

Hello from Virginia,

I just searched Ancestry.com and found several photos of Dr. Kingsbury. (I have a subscription.) One is indeed her yearbook page from Bryn Mawr. I see at least one family photo of her ("Aunt Sue, taken in Florence, 1914).  Her photo is included in at least one newspaper clipping posted. Family members have also attached her death certificate, obituary, and other items. Through Ancestry, you could reach out to family members who seem to have lovingly compiled mementos, documents, and photos of her. I hope that helps.

Newspapers.com probably also has photos of her. That is another go-to source for me.

What an impressive accomplishment she had with the Virginia Company Records. I've used her work for twenty years in my Jamestown research and have never thought to seek out a photo. Thanks for giving me the opportunity.

Best wishes,
