I continue to believe that we can talk productively and (with the exception of the few crass "usual suspects") civilly and politely about this issue.

What I have hoped to do was to model how one might go through the process of talking and thinking about the issue of the paternity of Sally Heming's children with some pretense to professional rigor.

I think there is value in that.  If the topic bores you, don't read it.  That said, I do not believe the topic is "spam," and I do believe its worth talking about--if for no other reason than that it helps me figure out with greater precision what I believe.
