I will eventually run across further information but by chance does
anyone know anything about this house that appears to have eluded even
Mary Wingfield Scott?

I am referring to the John Parkhill house built in 1818 that sat by
itself on the North side of E. Marshall Street between N 28th and N
29th.  He had his hands in many things including coal merchant but
didn't stay in Richmond long, leaving his wife and child behind to start
a cotton plantation in Florida.  The house was sold to a Hugh C.
McNemara in 1829 and the Beers map of 1877 still shows the house
standing alone on the entire block at that time owned by Cornelius
Lipscomb, son of Reuben Lipscomb who also owned the house.  It appears
to have had a short tree lined drive up to the front porch and ringed
the entire house.  It had a square footprint and quite large compared to
other houses in the area.  I am expecting it was torn down by the 1890s
and need to do research on that.

But goes to show that houses like these were "deliberately?" overlooked
throughout the years yet were significant to the Church Hill area.
