Would this be a good site to hunt Cobbs Hall Lees? It is my understanding we
held our property longer than the Stratford Hall Lees did their property.
I really am seeking information on my side of the Lee family.
Thanks

To search for Goochland County records at LVA, you can also search our
finding aids - http://vaheritage.org/

Search Goochland County and select Library of Virginia as the repository

Example of one of the finding aids -
http://ead.lib.virginia.edu/vivaxtf/view?docId=lva/vi03194.xml

Goochland County chancery causes 1731-1912 (bulk 1785-1912) are available
online at our Chancery Records Index -
http://www.virginiamemory.com/collections/chancery/

Tithable lists dating back to 1730 are available on microfilm.

The Goochland County's early records are in much better shape than Hanover
and some neighbors.

See the list at LVA's
http://www.lva.virginia.gov/whatwehave/local/county_formation/index.htm

And a very fine study based in large measure on these records is Maureen K.
Conklin, "Power in the Piedmont: Litigation and Political Culture in
Eighteenth-Century Central Virginia," (PhD. Diss., University of
Wisconsin-Madison, 1998).
