I am not impressed with the annexation of Texas, that was first invaded by 
slaveowners and, when the Mexican government refused to permit them to keep 
their slaves, they attacked and sacked the government. They were given their 
freedom with the stipulation that they not turn around and become part of 
the US, so they waited a decade, until there was a friendly face in the 
white house, and pulled it all off.

Yesterday a friend suggested I start a companion site to Famous Americans of 
Infamous Americans. John Tyler could go quickly onto that list.

And, I will remember your statement that John Tyler should be honored solely 
on the basis of his becoming president. You can be sure it will bite you 
someday!
