Mr. Browning:

We would love to have a copy of your list for researchers using the
collections of the Geography and Map Division, Library of Congress.

Feel free to contact me if we can offer any assistance.

OK, here's another task that can be done
effectively from this list. I have been
muttering for years about replatting the
counties from the original patents. Several
have been done and several are apparently in
the works. The problem is that some are not
published and some are published in areas
unfamiliar to some of us.

Denis Hudgins has a network of folks who are
working on various counties and some of these
are published. When Denis next surfaces from
Surry I will grab him and see what I can
obtain.

What I'd like to do is to have you all send
me on the list the known universe of
replatted counties. The county and sources of
the ones I'm familiar with are below. When
I've got as nearly a comprehensive list as
possible, I will circulate it on the list for
final checking and then get it to the Library
of VA and encourage them to set aside a
drawer in the map collection so that these
invaluable research tools are readily
available and cross-indexed. If you know of a
county or part thereof, please send it to the
list with the author, source, other info and
where it can be obtained.

Accomac & Northampton Whitelaw book
Orange Joyner map
Fairfax published book
King William Davis publication
Prince Edward Bob Clay at VSLA told me
about it
Brunswick Sasser book
New Kent 1865 property boundaries
compiled, working on 1782 boundaries
Spotsylvania Little post to this list

Parts of various counties Tom Bannister,
Walthall, Gregory, Browning
