Louise,

I am related to Chalkleys in Chesterfield County, but I'm not too clear on
the exact details. My great grandfather, William Neal/Neale Perdue m. first
Rebecca Cogbill and had about eight children by her before she died. He m.
2nd. my great grandmother, Sarah Tatum Nunnally, by whom he had eight more
children.

I believe one of the children of William and Rebecca Perdue married a
Chalkley. In supplying several relatives with Perdue information, I gave
away, by mistake, my last copy of the listing of Wm. and Rebecca's children.
I need to make a trip to the Lib. of Virginia to copy that info. again, but
have trouble getting there as often as I use to. I've just had my
eighty-fourth birthday and I wait these days for someone to drive me into
Richmond.

I was born here in Chester, but while I frequently visited my Grandmother and
Aunt here in the village, I only moved back about twelve years ago. For the
first seven years after my return, I volunteered in the Library of the
Chesterfield Historical Society. The Society publishes a quarterly, THE
MESSENGER. Sometime after I had to stop volunteering, a Mr. Mason T.Chalkley
became the editor of that paper and he still is. I do not know him well, but
visited with him once very briefly in his home. I learned that he had a large
computer file of Chalkley genealogy. I have had a computer for six years now,
but I did not have one at the time I visited him. I have not seen him since,
nor gotten any information from him. I was not clear on my Perdue -Chalkley
connection at the time of my visit and as far as I can remember, I don't
think he was aware of one, but my short term memory plaques me these days

I know he is knowlegeable about the family and you can correspond with him
through -
           Chesterfield Historical Society
           P.O. Box 40
           Chesterfield, Va 23832.

I do not have his e-mail address.

I never learned to type and have a bit of dyslexia ( I too often reverse
dates and letters in words, so please overlook all mistakes. My best wishes
for your research on the Chalkleys. If what I have witten makes a connection
for you, please let me hear from you again, especially if you should, by some
unlikely chance, descend from Perdues. I have some records on the ancestry of
that line and will be glad to share that with you.
