Anne,

I will not comment on your tirade about TJ and Martha because I know you
have not become familiar with the love between the two. I will limit my
remarks to your regarding Betsy Walker comment stating TJ was with Walker
while Martha was sleeping in the same house. When this occurred TJ was
single and young. And listen real good to this.....at the same time he
admitted this he ALSO stated in a cover letter to his Secretary of the Navy,
Robert Smith and his Attorney General, Levi Lincoln, that "this was the only
rumor about him that he would reveal is correct, BUT that was the ONLY ONE
of all the rumors being spread about him. Some people would like to have us
believe that he did not disavow these rumors...he DID. We also know that DNA
disproved the major rumor of the time, James Callender's Campaign Lies
article of September 1802...proven by DNA as just that.....A LIE, and one
that had been active since until TRIPPED up by DNA....NO Jefferson/Tom
Woodson DNA match.

Donald,

I am not a "man hater", but I am also not a "man worshiper". I do not
believe that the primary function of women is to bear and raise children. I
do not know if Martha gave an intelligent consent to being made pregnant so

many times. By all other accounts she seems a sensible, pragmatic woman who
would realize that she just was not made for baby-making.

So, you are offended by my comments about her excessive pregnancies. I am
offended by those who project a sterling character to a man who so abused
his wife. I am deeply offended by the attempt to portray Jefferson as a
saint, when indeed he killed the woman he loved because he wouldn't keep his

pants buttoned. And, before you get all fuzzy about love, read Jon Kukla's
"Jefferson's Women", and learn how much he loved Martha when he
propositioned Betsy Walker in the same house where Martha was blissfully
sleeping.

So match your being offended by my being offended and see which rises!

Anne
