Everyone,

On Monday, 11 March, the Alexandrian Society of VCU’s History Department presents its 2013 symposium, “Comparative Emancipations in the Atlantic World.” 

From 2-5:50 p.m. at the VCU Student Commons Theater, free and open to the public.

At 2:30 p.m., hear Thavolia Glymph, of Duke University, “Emancipation and the Problem of Black Refugees and Refugee Camps in the Civil War.”

At 3:30, Dale Graden, University of Idaho, “1888: Brazil’s Final Emancipation in the Americas”

At 4:30, Antonio Espinosa. VCU, “Emancipation in Peru”
