Va-Hist subscribers may recall a long public debate that began last year
over the deposit of the executive papers of Governor James S. Gilmore in the
archives of the Library of Virginia, a dispute that eventually resulted in
the Library acquiring the bulk of the former governor's official papers.

According to this morning's Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Library Board and
the Librarian of Virginia have received an award for their efforts to have
those historic records placed in the archives for the information of the
public. Please see
