If I can help in any way or provide UGRR materials, please let me know. As
you may have heard, Tara and I have been trying to foment UGRR
documentation in Petersburg and next in Delmarva in the spring. Is there
someone working on a book on Leonard Grimes? I love to tell people about
him (which I learned thanks to you and Kathryn Grover). Can you suggest any
sites or programs or libraries/museums in Richmond that we should urge to
apply to the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom?

For teachers of history and social studies grades 4-12 and museum
educators.

Sponsored by the duPont Fund, Wachovia Fund for Education, Robert E. Lee
Memorial Association, Inc., and Virginia Commonwealth University

July 20, 2003 - August 1, 2003

The seminar is designed to help teachers of history and social studies
grades 4-12 and museum educators employed in a public history setting to
incorporate the history of African-American slavery into their programs.
Although the main focus will be the history of slavery in Virginia, the
seminar will provide participants with a general study of slavery in
America.

The director of the seminar will be Dr. Philip J. Schwarz, Professor of
History at Virginia Commonwealth University. Renowned scholars in the field
of slavery, including historians, archaeologists and museum professionals,
will engage the participants in interactive sessions.

Detailed information and an online application are available at
www.stratfordhall.org

Complete applications must be received by March 8, 2003. Questions about
the seminar may be directed to Slavery Seminar Staff at
