RELIC is pleased to announce that we have received microfilm of the U.S.
Census of 1930, the entire portion relating to Virginia. This includes
publication T-1626, reels 2433-2483, plus Soundex (statewide index) for
Virginia, M-2059, reels 1-127. The films are ready for immediate use at
Bull Run Regional Library, 8051 Ashton Avenue, Manassas. Phone
703-792-4540, TTY 703-792-4524, for information. Hours are Monday-Thursday
10am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-5pm. We will also be open Sunday June 2,
noon to 5 pm. Please note, this is the Library System's last Sunday opening
until mid-September.

We have eleven microfilm reader-printers available in working order. Copies
are 15 cents (12 cents with 1-2-3 copy card).

Please note: Images of some 1930 census records are also available through
our internet subscription to AncestryPlus, accessible at machines in Bull
Run, Central, Chinn Park, and Potomac Libraries. All states will eventually
be available there. All population schedules for the U.S. census 1790-1920
are currently loaded on that site. Not all years are indexed there.

States of the 1930 census currently available through AncestryPlus and
Ancestry.com are:

California, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine,
Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Utah, and Vermont.

Indexed states on AncestryPlus and Ancestry.com: Delaware, District of
Columbia, and Utah. Only 10 states (plus 2 partial states) have been
indexed on microfilm: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia; and partial indexes
for Kentucky and West Virginia.

Bull Run Regional Library also has microfilm and indexes of all surviving
Virginia censuses prior to 1930. Records since 1930 will not be released
until 72 years after date of creation.

For registered borrowers, Prince William Public Library can also borrow any
roll of the 1930 census for any state through interlibrary loan at a fee of
$3.50.

The staff of RELIC will be happy to help you find the census record you
need.
