I don't know much about Thomas Rolfe's life, but one fo my students just
showed me a reproduction of something called the "Sedgeford Hall"
portrait which shows a young Thomas Rolfe in the care of an woman of
Native American appearance. Both are in European clothing, Thomas is
shown with longish, black hair, native American features. The
reproduction is in Grace Steele Woodward's biography (pub. by University
of Oklahoma Press).

Looking for info beyond the bare biographical facts for Thomas
Rolfe--son
of John R. and Pocahontas. i.e. what did he look like?-- racially?--who
was his uncle Henry and how was he raised in London before returning to
Virginia? -- details about his joining with settlers against indians?
any
leads, even fictional accounts, useful. thanks so much.
