A friend of mine is looking for some research leads/help.

"John Carlyle's son was George William Carlyle. At the age of 14, after his
father's death in 1780, he joined the army, and he was killed shortly after
his 15th birthday at the Battle of Eutaw Springs. That's really all we
know, and we would very much appreciate any shred of detail that you might
find. We don't know that he was in William Washington's unit, but from
Henry Lee's memoirs, we assume it from the context. For a long time,
because of the mention in Lee's memoirs, we assumed that he was in Lee's
unit. All we have is this sentence from Lee's memoirs: "The gallant young
Carlisle from Alexandria, a cadet in the regiment, was killed, and half the
corps destroyed; after which the residue was drawn off by Captain Parsons,
assisted by Lieutenant Gordon." Note Lee's spelling of Carlyle.

Any help with info on George William Carlyle will be much appreciated.
