In the near future, as part of a walking trail from Henry's house to the confluence of the Falling and Staunton Rivers, Red Hill will need to construct a modest pedestrian bridge across a very narrow creek. Its well away from the 18th-c house, and I've been thinking that it might be fun to model such a bridge after one of the many handsome early 19th-c bridges for which plans and elevations are extant in the Virginia Board of Public Works papers.
  I've just attempted an on-line search of those papers using the LVA on-line catalogue, and that experience convinces me to ask for advice. I regret that I have misplaced my copy of John Salmon's Guide to the BPW papers.
  My goal is to find a few drawings/plans/specs (not business records etc) for a real bridge (whether it was actually built or not probably doesn't matter) with the following loose preferences:
- prefer early 19th century to later
- prefer southside piedmont and proximity to Charlotte over more distant ones
- nifty looking over ugly, etc.
