In his draft of the Declaration of Independence Jefferson referred to a
Va. statute that would have limited or ending the importation of slaves
in VA that the King overruled. Does anyone have a citation for that
act. I believe it may be

An Act for continuing and amending several acts, and he reviving of one
act, for laying duties upon slaves imported, Act of February 1772,
WILLIAM WALTER HENING, HENING’S STATUTES AT LARGE 8:530.

However, I would appreciate it if anyone can confirm that or has a the
right act.

In addition, does anyone have a citation to the King's overruling the
act. I assume it may be some British source. Off list is ok. Thanks
in advance.

Happy holidays to all from the winter wonderland of Albany, where it has
been snowing continuously for the last 24 hours and shows no sign of
stopping.
