Three Highland County commonwealth causes reveal a tangled web of
conspiracy, murder, and secret affairs that led to the execution of the
slave Sam. Did Sam act alone in the murder of Francis Sheridan? Or was
he part of a larger plot concocted by Elizabeth Sheridan to rid herself
of an unwanted husband?
