Eric Huffstutler [log in to unmask] wrote me:

"Brent... now I am a bit confused. I thought the Madison map people were
talking about was of "Richmond" and not the state? I only see the Byrd
map from the 1700s for Richmond and the state map for Madison of 1807.

"Was there a very early 19th century Richmond map?"

I reply: I do not know of an 1804 or 1807 Madison map of Richmond, but
there is an image of Richmond on the 1807 Madison map of Virginia, which
is what I think that I remember began this discussion.
