rarely among board members of historical societies and similar
institutions; sadly most board members are either their for glory They
"pay to play" by donating and then think they know something about the
field; or they are their to glorify their living relatives and dead
ancestors. I have served on a few museum boards and found it an uphill
struggle to get board members to even consent to board training so they
can understand their role and what museums do.
And, they all lack a sense of humor about the very "serious" business of
preserving the memory of their great-grandparents.

People really need to get a grip. Is there no sense of humor left
anywhere?
