Good Morning John:

My great great grandfather Josiah Bland was orphaned in the early 1800s in
Caroline Co., Virginia. Two different Guardian Bonds were issues for him.
The first one was issued on Dec 14, 1813 and it appointed George Marshall as
the Guardian for Mary, John, Josiah and Catherine the orpahned children of
Thomas Bland deceased. A second bond was issued on Sept 11, 1815 and it
appointed Thomas Bell as Guardian for Josiah Bland, son of Thomas Bell.

Now it is my understanding from other Genealogists that to obtain a Guardian
Bond a person must petition the Court and that an application must be
submitted for this purpose. The Clerk of Caroline County (Ray Campbell)
recently informed me that all of the records for that period of time in
Caroline County were sent to the Library of Virginia. Can you by chance shed
any light on this subject and can you tell me how I may go about obtaining a
copy of the Petition Application?

Anything that you can relate to me will be greatly appreciated.

Regards and God Bless,
Bernie Bland in Springfield, VA.
