The main problem I will have centers around photographs, or rather the
lack of for this area. Even the VHS has very few showing much North of
Broad. Most of what I have gone by are insurance documents, descendants
of original owners, and maps. Sometimes archived newspapers.

Subject: Re: [VA-HIST] Church Hill History - Question

Jim's thesis is available in VCU Libraries' Special Collections and
Archives.

Another good source for early Church Hill info. and Shed Town, would be
the ever reliable Richmond Newspaper Clippings Collection held at the
main branch of the Richmond Public Library.

my VCU MA thesis on Geroge Winston. The Thesis is titled "The Building
Career of George Winston (1759-1826)". George Winston owned and sold
many acres of Shed Town. He built a house there which I cataloged in my
thesis.
