No kidding, the half-century-old national historic landmark at _Fort_ 
Monroe, the one that merits federal funding as you advocate (though it 
wouldn't actually need much of that, as I've explained, if we follow the 
Presidio inspiration) is nearly ten times the area of the moated stone 
_fortress_ that it contains. See for yourself on the aerial photograph at
