Anne,

Ouch! Afraid you're wrong, though, as I read your story before I made my comment.

I see you've sent a second message to me with a link, and I admit I have not clicked on the link yet. Will do so when I sign off here. I'd like to suggest that for "the rest of the story" you might want to take a look at http://www.new-life.net/thanks01.htm
which pretty much gets rid of any importance re. the first American Thanksgiving. I think though, that we are both begging the issue, which if I'm right, is rebellion against Plymouth as THE captial of Thanksgiving, USA. If it's the only story children hear, what are they to think? That, I believe, is why Virginia's yell, "Foul!"

  JoAnne,

I suspect you didn't read the story any more than Lyle did. Is that how you
do research before you add your two cents to a discussion?

When I did a google search under "First Thanksgiving, Berkeley didn't come
up until half way down the second page.

Seems the only Americans who buy the idea that Thanksgiving began at
Berkeley are Virginians.

My research time is at a premium. It took less than a week to research and
create the Pilgrim's Thanksgiving, and they did indeed call it a
Thanksgiving Feast, just as we do today. As I said before, I may have time
to write a second story before the Holiday, but if not, I will target it for
next year. There are other stories that need to be told in the meantime,
including one on Pocahontas, perhaps about her kidnapping and forced
conversion to Christianity in order to marry a second husband.
