Barbara,

I have to only slightly disagree. Perhaps "expand upon this" is more apt. The Fredericksburg District Court records are all at one location (Fredericksburg), and have been abstracted by the wonderful volunteers there. These abstracts can be found at:

<http://www.historiccourtrecords.org/>

I have found mountains of material here that is not available at LVA or any county court. It will take a little digging to get to the search engine, but it's there.

Somewhere in my pile of papers I have a copy of a circa 1830 piece of paper written by an attorney which says which county was in which district, and on what dates courts were held, who the judges were, etc.. Perhaps the kind people in Fredericksburg have preserved this. To my chagrin, I keep finding this and keep losing it.

Obtaining copies is not a problem but one must call the office to obtain them, or make an appointment to see them in person. The contact information will be found on the web site.
