The following public lecture will be presented NEXT Tuesday (10/25) and is
open to everyone:

Dell Upton, University of Virginia
"Memorials to the Second Civil War: Commemorating the Civil Rights Movement"

Professor Upton is David A. Harrison III Professor of Historical Archaeology
at the University of Virginia.  He is the author of Architecture in the
United States (Oxford, 1998) and many other books and articles on the
intersection of history and architecture in the US.

A reception with food and drink will follow the talk.

This lecture is the second in this year's lecture program of the
Williamsburg Society of the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA).  It
is sponsored by the Departments of Anthropology, Art & Art History and
Classical Studies, by the Charles Center, and by the Department of Modern
and Classical Languages and Literatures at Christopher Newport University.
