My ancestors were free blacks in Virginia, and fought in the Revolutionary
War from that state. By the Civil War they were in the North, and fought on
the Union side (the winning side). They were forced to leave the land of
the ancestors, by the poor whites who were immigrating from England, and
Ireland. These groups felt threatened by a class of blacks who were free,
and actually living better than many whites.

New Yorkers may be racist, but they are not trying to get Kkk license
plates. Many of the urban blacks mentioned by Billy are leaving the south
looking for better opportunities in the north. This writer seems to have a
limited knowledge of what is happening in America. He writes as if there are
no trailer parks, and white folks in jail, nor unwed white women. The only
quotes he gives are negatives ones from the Urban north. That is what makes
him look racist, and bigoted, his lack of skills in assessing what is really
going on. It is not so much a case of racism, as ignorance of history.
