Teresa and Lonny's points messages are well taken.

I hope that the pursuit of truth wherever it
leads and the benefit of two centuries of 20/20
hindsight regarding Jefferson and the slavery
issue will help protect us 21st-century students
of history from being castigated by our own
descendants for indulging in the entertaining but
often trivial search for (among other things) an
acceptable past while neglecting to act in
regards to the more important atrocities that are
occuring in our present.
