"Built By Blacks" Lecture by Selden Richardson,
Wednesday, February 7, 2007

12:00 p.m., book signing and reception following the lecture

VCU alumnus Selden Richardson, architectural historian and board 
president for the Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods 
(ACORN), will discuss and sign his recent book, "Built by Blacks: 
African American Architecture and Neighborhoods in Richmond, Virginia".

Copies of the book will be available for purchase.  Proceeds from book 
sales benefit A.C.O.R.N. which helps to restore vitality to Richmond's 
urban neighborhoods primarily through the return of vacant or abandoned 
buildings to productive use.

Richardson will present images of the city's architectural heritage as 
built by African Americans and will encourage the preservation of what 
remains of this impressive legacy.

This event is free and open to the public. Public parking is available
