If you'd like some other examples of name pronunciations, here are a few:

spelled: Stanardsville; pronounced: Standard-sville

spelled: Dante (like the author of the Divine Comedy); pronounced Dant

spelled: Narrows;  pronounced: Narz

spelled: Lebenon; pronounced Lebnin

I could go on and on especially about places in SWVA
