Welcome to Battersea. You have stepped back in history to Petersburg of the 18th century - 25 April, 1781. On that day, a British army of 2,500 troops, commanded by Major General William Phillips attacked the city to capture the large quantity of supplies they believed were stored there. A determined force of 1,000 Virginia militia, commanded by Major General, the Baron von Steuben, confronted those British troops. A battle raged for nearly 3 hours, after which the Americans were compelled to give up the city and retreat into Chesterfield County. Though losing the battle, General von Steuben's troops bought enough time to evacuate badly needed supplies for General George Washington's army.

British & American units portrayed at this even are authentically recreated military units that actually participated in the Revolutionary War and come from various locations throughout the United States. You are welcome to walk through the camps & talk to the participants. However, do not be surprised if the 18th century soldiers have no comprehension of your 21st century ways. Experience full-scale camp life of the Revolutionary War armies in addition to skirmishes & a daily reenactment of The Battle of Petersburg.

Tickets - Adults: $10.00.
