The new library in Fairfax City is amazing. Having used the old one for the
past 45 years or so, this one is an enormous improvement, beautiful inside,
and with a Virginia Room that fills an entire floor. They've got a large rare
book room, real staff work space (finally), and lots of empty book shelf
space. I delivered a bunch of manuscript boxes to them recently and got a peak
before it opens on the 26th. There's even parking for nearly 200 cars instead of
the old lot that could only handle 40 or so. It will be a wonderful place to
visit and in which to do research. Everyone should stop by and visit it when
it opens.
