Please join us this Saturday, February 20, 2010 at The American Civil War
Center for a special Black History Month event - "Slave Storytelling
Traditions."

Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of communication in the world. Since
most slaves did not learn to read or write, stories were told for
entertainment, to explain the supernatural, teach lessons to children, and
to poke fun at the master, themselves, and the world around them. Join
historic interpreter Wisteria Perry as she takes you on a journey through
time. Audience members will have an opportunity to participate in the
storytelling and help determine the meanings that slaves intended.
