Barker House Manager, Edenton, NC
Called Edenton's living room, the Barker House welcomes 26,000 visitors
a year to the South's prettiest small town. Edenton Historical
Commission owns the Barker House and the 1886 Roanoke River Lighthouse
on the picturesque waterfront overlooking where the Chowan and Roanoke
rivers enter Albemarle Sound. 
We seek a friendly, organized, accounting and computer-savvy person 
to:                                           Manage the Book and Gift 
Shop to promote awareness and earn 
income.                                               Recruit and train 
volunteers to lead daily 
tours.

Schedule and coordinate activities and special 
events.

Manage daily operations of the Barker House; maintain the building and 
its furnishings.                     Cooperate with leaders of Edenton'
s other landmark buildings to promote heritage tourism.              
Report to the Commission's Executive Director, oversee the bookkeeper,
and work with the Commission's Barker House Committee and Treasurer. 
The candidate should have experience in retail, hospitality, budget and
volunteer administration.

Applicant review begins October 22, 2007. We will interview the first
week of November and expect the Barker House Manager to begin by
December 1 to enjoy Edenton's Christmas Candlelight Tour on December 7
and 8.
