Va-Hist subscriber Jon Kukla who has some computer difficulty asked me
to forward this reply:

Biographies by Bob Rutland and Helen Hill Miller come to mind, but I
recently read the MS of a better and more ambitious and complete book
entitled 'First Order of Greatness: George Mason and the Republican
Experiment' by Jeff Broadwater.
It goes well beyond Rutland or Miller in its documentation of Mason's
legislative activity throughout the Revolution and represents an
important contribution to our understanding of Virginia in the
Revolution ... I presume that UNC press has accepted the MS and put it
into production, but I was just a reader and don't know that for
certain. It is definitely worthy of consideration for Va-Hist folks'
reading list whenever it does come out.
