Don't miss this great chance to learn from one of the great masters of
Virginia architectural history, the Dept. of Historic Resource's Senior
Architectural Hisotrian Calder Loth. A seven session course will be held
at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (2800 Grove Ave., Richmond, VA 23221,
804-340-1405)from 6 to 7pm Sept. 24, Sept. 26, Oct. 1, Oct. 3, Oct. 8, Oct.
10, and a walking tour at 10 am Saturday, Oct. 6. The course title
is "Architectural Literacy: What You've Always Wanted to Know About
Architecture But Were Afraid to Ask." The class will help
participants "read" architecture, defined as "the most accessible of the
arts." Traditional Virginia architecture will be explored, and aesthetic
principles defined to identify "literate" and "illiterate" structures. Get
an order form by calling or writing the museum, or e-mail this address with
your address or fax number for a copy. The cost is $75 for the general
public, and $60 for Virginia Museum of Fine Arts members.
