Tom,

Thanks so much for a very thorough explanation of the use of puccoon by the 
Powhatans. I assume from what you said, that Pocahontas probably did not use 
puccoon to decorate her face as she found in England. About what age did 
women begin to decorate themselves with tatoos?

I know they may/did use an extract from poison ivy for the ink. From 
pictures, it seems this produced a single dark color. Black? Gray?
