Lyle,

You mean that piece did not induce you to bring your harvest to sacrifice it
at the altar of Saint Nat???

Seriously, tho, you think I went too far in making him the good guy? I
carefully described his acts as killings, and those of the whites towards
the 200 slaves as murders. I made a big deal of his obvious religiousity and
piousness, and mentioned that his masters missed the opportunity to either
use his intelligence of free him to develop it as a freeman. In short, one
of the "sins" of slavery. I seriously considered putting a final remark at
the end of the piece saying :

And pharaoh turned a stone heart toward the plight of his slaves ....

but decided that would go over the heads of the kids.

BTW, was that "F" for coming to the wrong conclusion or for not supporting
my conclusions with adequate sources in the netlinks?

Glad you took the time to read it!!!

Anne
