The next program in the Virginia Heritage Resource Center's Mining the
Treasure House lecture series will take place at noon on Tuesday, 9
December, 2003, in the conference rooms adjacent to the lobby in the
Library of Virginia at 800 East Broad Street in downtown Richmond.

The speaker will be John R. Pagan, Professor of Law at T.C.Williams Law
School at the University of Richmond. He will speak about his book
published in 2003, Anne Orthwood's Bastard: Sex and Law in Early
Virginia, an interesting study of legal cases concerning illegitimacy on
Virginia's Eastern Shore from the 1660's to the 1680's, and the social
and cultural context in which they took place.

There is free underground parking for Library patrons. For more
information on this and other programs and services of the Library of
Virginia please visit the Library's web site at http://lva.lib.va.us or
