Harold Forsythe asks that fellow Va-Hist subscribers alert him to any
information they may possess on this topic:

I am look for information on the Confederate Home Guard in Southside
Virginia, 1861-1865.  I am particularly interested in the city of
Danville, Pittsylvania, Halifax, Mecklenburg, and Charlotte Counties.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I did the history of the Confederate Home Guard (H. E. Howard, Inc., Rt. 2 Box 496H, Appomattox, VA  24522 phone 434-352-8871) for the Virginia Regimental History Series, which is still in print, or perhaps available by interlibrary loan.
