I am searching for information on the history of the song "Alexander's
Ragtime Band" by Irving Berlin, 1911. I would like any input (off the
list) from those who do research in music and Black history. I have read
that some researchers feel this is not a ragtime song, but a march. Do
some feel the song is considered derogetory toward African Americans? If
so, in what way?

Thanks for any input - Off the list please.
