J South,

It is not only racial groups that attempt to forge a difference in social
groups, it is also ethnic groups that like to be different. Even teenagers,
who strive to be so alike, are often obsessed with being different and
unique. Sibling rivalry is also the effort to be different, just different
enough to stand out, not different enough to be ostrasized.
