Some slaves and ex-slaves liked to quote Psalm 137, which--they believed-- spoke to their condition and ended with a celebration of violent retribution:

Babylon, Babylon the destroyer,
happy is he who repays you
for what you did to us!
Happy is he who seizes your babes
