New resource alert!

The Alleghany County chancery causes, 1831-1880, are now indexed, scanned, and freely available through the Chancery Records Index. Chancery causes are a valuable source of local, state, social, and legal history and serve as a primary source for understanding a locality's history.

A finding aid for the collection is found at- https://ead.lib.virginia.edu/vivaxtf/view?docId=lva/vi05262.xml

The Chancery Records Index is found at- https://www.virginiamemory.com/collections/chancery/
