Joanne,

I am in communication with others who live in the border states and resent 
the current migration of Mexicans to the US for the many reasons you give. I 
have heard from farmers hereabout in Virginia who would prefer to employ 
Mexicans than take a mix of latino seasonal workers. I cannot speak from 
experience, but I've been told that the Mexicans are hard workers. Perhaps 
that is some part of the reason they are so popular in construction work in 
your neck of the woods. Newcomers or immigrants working for less than the 
established workforce is not new. It has been the case with every wave of 
immigration that you can research in the history books.
