As far as pictures, you don't have to drag a mirror in, you can also
use something white as a reflector to get highlights into the type
(or something black to reduce highlights). You can use a sheet of
posterboard or anything handy.
Dragging a mirror in?  Usually I'm doing this on the spur of the moment, and
I just use the mirror in my purse compact.  Half the time it's just one or two
spots that are hard to read.  But next time I forget my compact, I'll look
for the back of whatever birthday card I forgot to mail that week!
