The Library of Virginia is pleased to announce the release of the
updated finding aid to the Dabney-Jackson Collection. This new finding
aid includes several items that were not listed in the previous finding
aid. The collection consists of the papers of the Dabney family of
Hanover, King William, and Louisa Counties, Virginia, and the papers of
Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson (1824-1863). These papers were
compiled by Charles William Dabney (1855-1945) from various sources
including his father, R. L. Dabney (1820-1898), Stonewall Jackson's
chief of staff who used the papers to write Life and Campaigns of
Lieutenant-General Thomas J. Jackson (1866).

To access the finding aid, visit The Library of Virginia's homepage at
http://www.lva.lib.va.us/, click on "What We Have," then click on
"Archives and Manuscripts Catalog," perform a title search for
Dabney-Jackson Collection, select the "hit" for Dabney-Jackson
Collection, and you will then be taken to the catalog record for the
collection. If you then select "Finding Aid" at the top of the screen,
you will be taken to the finding aid for the collection. This finding
aid was made accessible through the Virginia Heritage Project, a
database of guides, or finding aids, describing archives and manuscripts
in eleven repositories in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Collection material can be accessed in the manuscripts reading room at
The Library of Virginia. For more information please contact Archives
Reference staff at (804) 692-3888 or by electronic mail at
