Further to W. Scott Breckinridge Smith's comments: I believe this Belmont was either rebuilt on the Belmont site or an older home on the property was substantially renovated in the 1950s. The architect Marshall Wells' papers are in the Small Special Collections Library at U.Va. should any one wish to pursue this topic further.
