Off of the top of my head, my understanding is that the church split in
England, from the Catholic Church. The Priest in the Catholic Church could
not marry, nor were parishoners able to divorce.  I believe one of the
Royals wanted a divorce, and the Catholic Church would not grant it. So
having plenty of money and power, he formed the Episcopal church was formed.
